Heading for Snow

For 2006 a new venture is planned! It is called wheels4freedom

The wheels4freedom project has two key objectives:

• To raise awareness of “the line”, the line of the WW1 Western Front, as a route of pilgrimage, to encourage others to follow it and where possible, to use the route for future charity fundraising purposes. An explanatory tribute card (click to see details) will be left at many of the memorials on the way. Permission has also been given for special wreaths to be laid at the Menin Gate at Ypres during the Last Post ceremony.
• Through a project named wheels4freedom, to raise £12,000 to purchase and maintain three electric wheelchairs. Each chair will be assigned to a victim of conflicts ranging from WW2 to the Gulf and Iraq. The freedom that these chairs provide cannot be overstated. The procurement and assignment of the chairs will be handled by The Royal British Legion directly. Recent case studies have been provided by The Royal British Legion which describe the benefits that electric wheelchairs and scooters can provide (Click to see details here and here)”
